It’s ok to have a lucrative Hobby

What is a lucrative hobby? Doing something that makes money but not making a full-scale business. That means you do it on the side when you can and get some coins from it. I don’t follow the rules, I don’t have a business that I run daily, and I do things when I want and when I feel like it. Having a lucrative hobby is ok to have.

I am a steady paycheck type of gal. I need to have a steady income coming in even if it’s part-time. I have been poor and I know that businesses can be up and down. I want to always be up as much as I can and a steady paycheck comes in handy on those down moments. Now if my business was making 6 figures then maybe I can forgo a steady paycheck but that is the only reason that I would give one up.

Not everyone can be or should be a full-scale entrepreneur. Gary V. once said if you work a 9 to 5 you don’t own a business you have a hobby. I wouldn’t go that far and say that because I know many people who have both but I will say it is hard to do if you don’t have a team or a support system. It’s damn near impossible.

You do not have to turn your hobby into a big business. Get some coins or not it’s up to you. I don’t ever want to lose my love of photography and for me having a lucrative hobby keeps me loving photography and getting money at the same time.

  • Have a side hustle safety net - Kita Bryant
    June 17, 2025

[…] A few months ago, my job laid off about half of its employees. I thank God I wasn’t in that number but you never know when that job will let you go. My job is a great job, but AI is here and it can potentially take my job. I heard someone say if you can work from home AI can do it..I don’t know how true that is but we have to stay ready for anything, and no job is stable. So what are you supposed to do? Have a side hustle as a safety net. I know I know everyone can’t be a business owner but you can still make money with a lucrative hobby. […]
