Social media overload

Social media overload

Y’all alright? (in my Tabitha Brown voice) It’s a lot going on let’s see we have Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Tik Tok, and now Threads. I didn’t mention the rest cause these are the top dogs. People are going to spend their time on at least 2 of these platforms for their business or to be nosy or for inspiration. So if you own a business how are you supposed to handle all of these platforms? Especially if you can’t hire a social media person or assistant. Here is what I’m going to do to keep me sane because I’m part of the over 40 crowd and it’s too much for me and I have a life outside of social. Here is how I’m going to handle my social media overload for now.

Facebook – I’m rarely on. I may go in there once a week because someone messaged me. If someone messages me I’ll go and check the groups I’m in to see what’s up then I’m out. If no one messages me I don’t go on Facebook at all. BTW Elon can take the group’s concept from FB and put it on Twitter. They say it’s on there but it could be bigger.

LinkedIn – Chile, please

Instagram – Mine is private. I made it that way cause I share photos of my kids and I was tired of the spam bots. I also like keeping my community private that way I know who is who and can better form a relationship.

Pinterest – I’ll go in there for my quotes and questions to ask but unless I’m looking for something specific I’m not on that app much maybe once a week if that

TikTok – I repurpose whatever video I put on reels over there and let that be. I’ll go in from time to time to see what’s new if I’m on the toilet or sitting still somewhere but other than that it’s the same folks doing the same thing with the same music…I’m good.

Twitter – My baby. The platform I love and used the most. I met my friends there. I get my traffic from my website from there. I don’t want to let it go. I do schedule over there so I only pop in using my 5 times 3 method. That works for me

Threads – the newest baby on the block. It’s exactly like Twitter but new. I like it but I want to keep the content over there more free and engage more. So for now no links over there just funny thoughts and life lessons.

How are you handling all these social media outlets on your own? I will use my Milanote and do a schedule of what to post weekly. I think that will help me out a bit more to stay organized. Threads will stay in real time while the rest of my content will be on a system. Also, you own your content on your website. Maybe put the main stuff there and then spread out to other platforms….that’s just my two cents.
