Hello Kita Let's start over

Hello, Kita: Let’s start over

Welcome to Hello, Kita on my own website. I think this is the perfect time to start fresh, so let’s start over and let me reintroduce myself. My name is Kita Bryant (Allen is married), and I am a widow and mom of two kids. One is 20 the other is 17. My son is currently at Georgia Gwinnett College studying cybersecurity, and my daughter is a senior in high school with plans to study biology in College. I am 40-something (a woman never tells her age), and I live on the east side of Atlanta off of Interstate 20. I am a data analyst by day, and I take photos on the side, plus I have a T-shirt company that celebrates my heritage of Gullah Geechee. When I have free time, I like to take naps. I’m very boring, and I am an introvert. I am an only child, and my mom died years ago so I’m out here as an orphan. I think that’s the meat and potatoes of who I am, so let’s get into this new chapter of my life as I get ready to be an empty nester.

Let’s talk

  • I was offered a Sam’s Club card for free on my cc, and I took it. Costco is better.
  • Check your spam and set a reminder to do that as often as you can, because you could be missing money like I did last week
  • I told my son when I lose this weight, I’m going to get him a step daddy. He said I needed to eat more cookies and get fatter
  • How is my weight loss going? I will be honest: I am 242, and I’m 5’2. I am supposed to be 130 at the most for my height, so I am considered fat. I am real with myself…..that is fat. I am not weighing myself until my birthday, but for now I’m doing at least 5k steps 3 times a week, staying under 1600 calories for 80% of the time, and I am cooking at home. Cutting out extra sugar has been good. Can’t wait to see how much I have lost by December.
  • I use AI for 3 things….I ask it to run the news for me in certain categories (marketing, photography, Atlanta, etc), and daily I ask it to give me the top trending news for those topics. Then I use it to get promo coupons for places I shop at. I just used it to take some coins off something I purchased from Lane Bryant. Then I use it to track my calories. I know some apps can do it, but I just plug in what I eat daily, and it tells me if I stayed under my calorie limit or not.
  • I am not giving AI my picture or anything else, and it’s not my therapist. They’re already tracking us, and we give them more, y’all crazy.
  • I saw the talk on Culture Con… and I realized that I have never ever been to a black conference. The one I was going to, which was a photography one, was canceled at the last min years ago. I have been to a few white conferences, but I gotta do better at going to conferences put on by my people.
  • I buy a lot of paper plates, and so to stop doing that, I am going to use my dishes that just sit and collect dust. I will start with these bowls.
  • I am also not a sneakerhead, but I love a good sneaker I can match to outfits, and these are comfortable.

The Ugly Truth

The first time I was called ugly, I was 7 years old. I was playing in a store and running around while my mom was shopping. I kept running to the mirror because I had on some new shoes. A black lady said, ” Girl, you are so ugly you will break that mirror. My mom said something to her, but I kept my focus on the mirror, staring at it. I didn’t know what ugly meant, but I remember after that my mom kept telling me to stay out of the sun because men don’t like darkskinned women, and I may never marry if I become too dark. Later, I realized she was talking from her own experience. I was called ugly, black, space cadet (I have a space between my teeth) more times than I can count. It wasn’t until I was over 35 that I realized that I might be ugly, but I’m not the ugliest. That’s the lesson….lol. Another lesson is that you have to love yourself enough to know who you are so that you don’t spend years with being ugly looming over your head. If you know who you are, then no one can tell you who you are. (next Hello, Kita we will start with a story)

Reading

I am in a book club, and we are reading Parable of the Sower… It’s starting slow; I hope it picks up.

Watching

I watched The Widower on Netflix the other night, and baby, let me tell you something. That is white privilege if I ain’t never seen it in my life cause WTF. How you murder 3 of your six wives and then get away with it a few times? Couldn’t be a black man.

Listening

My issue with YouTube is that I forget to record the video, but I’m also tired of being broke.
