My best summer Memories

I’m back with the 10 on the 10th with Marsha in the Middle. I love these because it keeps me consistent monthly. Even if I only blog on the 10th…I’m blogging on the 10th lol. This month’s prompt is to give 10 of your best summer memories. Let me dig deep because I’m old and a lot of things I forget but to write them down will be something that will live forever. These memories are in no particular order so they will be random from all of my ages but I hope you enjoy them and I also hope you make 10 of your best summer memories this summer with your family and friends.

My best summer Memories

The last Summer we spent with the hubs before he died. This one is the top of my mind because it was the best Summer ever. We went on our first Family vacation ever via a blog sponsored trip. It was my first trip as a smaller blogger and I was shocked they picked me. Looking back I think that was God’s way of saying I’m giving you this trip to last in your memory vault forever. We went to Port St. Joe which I had never heard of before. I was a little skeptical about the area because there weren’t any black people around (we saw 1 or 2) so I was weary but we felt no racism, no hate, no stares, no nothing. They didn’t even see color there and we had a blast. It’s empty there and not many people go there so if you are looking for a beach getaway without the crowd this is the place.

The Summer I went to Six Flags with my friends after our 12th grade prom. We stayed to prom for 10 min if that and bounced. Piled into a Mitsubishi truck that seated 5 but it was 7 of us lol. Yep, 2 people had to switch in the trunk we all took turns. We booked a hotel room with two beds and took turns sleeping on the floor and bed and went to six flags that next day. Best prom I had. (the drive to Atlanta was 4 hrs)

Our Summer in Gatlinburg. We went with some friends and it was a blast. We had all the moonshine and ate so good. We did random things that Summer and it was the best decision those mountains though were a no.

The Summer I had my son. He was born in early June but he was a small bitty thing. That summer around August I put him on his stomach on the floor and he kept rolling over he was about 3 months at the time and I found so much joy in the simplicity of him rolling over.

The Summer I paid my car off. I had an old 2006 Honda accord that was hell to pay monthly (I had bad credit) and I finally paid it off one summer and I vowed to never ever pay another car note again. I did for an upgraded 2017 honda accord but only for 3 years instead of the 5. I’m back to not having a car note and it’s the best thing ever.

Summers were spent on my Grandma’s farm and I hated it but one Summer while sitting under one of her big oak tree a kitten came out of nowhere (she didn’t own any so where did it come from I don’t know) and I called him (or her didn’t know at the time) fluffy. My first ever cat.

In two weeks my bestie gets married. I’ll add this to the list because it will be my first wedding I’ll be in. She has went through a lot of frogs to get to her prince and I can’t wait to see it firsthand.

One Summer we had a reading program I was in the 9th grade. I read over 300 books that Summer. She didn’t believe that I had read so many books so she tried to randomly ask me about each one and I recalled all the ones she threw at me until she was satisfied I read them and gave me my prize of $100. That’s not much in today’s world but back then I thought I was rich. It was the first time I had ever had that much money at one time.

Every Summer my mom and I would travel to New York to visit family. I loved the train rides up there and visiting such a huge place with tall buildings. It was the highlight of my Summer and it got me away from that farm that I hated so much lol.

Last Summer I got on a plane for the first time in my life. It was nice but I still prefer road trips. I did it though and I was proud of myself for facing a fear.

Oh, Kita! I’m sure God was moving in your life for that last trip with your husband. I’m also glad you didn’t experience any racism and just had a wonderful time. Gatlinburg is a fun place, but the first time I went was in 1974 when it was so much better. I didn’t have any summer babies though I was pregnant through one. My husband is itching to buy a new car, but I keep telling him I like having no payments and lower insurance and license plates. I would love to go to NYC again to see some plays on Broadway. Have a wonderful time at the wedding!
