Fun Date Ideas for Teens | Things For Teen Couples to Do

Are you tired of your teen telling you their bored? Are they dating someone and have run out of ideas of things to do together? If so, you’re in luck. These fun date ideas for teens offer something new and different and typically align with the average teenager’s budget.

Fun Date Ideas for Teens Who Want a Night Out

If your teen is like mine, tired of the usual go-to date – Dave and Buster’s over here – here are a few ideas that give the same “night out” that make them feel like they’re grown.

Bowling

While bowling can get expensive when you head out on a Friday night and include the arcade, snacks, and other activities, usually bowling is one of those fun date ideas for tunes that don’t have to break the bank. Check to see if your local bowling alley offers discount nights or times. Usually, there are specials mid-week – ideal if it is during school vacation – or your teens take advantage of the bowling facility’s promotions.

TopGolf

This spot can get expensive, so be sure to have the teen couple in your life take advantage of promotions. Better yet, consider a Top Golf gift card for your teen and their boyfriend or girlfriend. Experience gift cards are great for birthdays and holidays, and take some of the financial pressure off your kids, while giving them something different to do.

Inexpensive and Fun Date Ideas for Teens

Of course, money can be a concern for teens who are dating, but these inexpensive date ideas will help keep the budget in check!

Go out for dessert

Having a full meal out at a restaurant is pricey these days, so suggest your kids cook at home and then head out to the restaurant for dessert. They’ll still feel like they’re going out, and they can save money at the same time. Another idea is to opt for an ice cream date; this is a fun activity to do after a bit of mini-golfing.

Art or craft tutorial on YouTube

YouTube provides a wealth of information at your fingertips, for free and if your teen has had something on their mind that they want to learn, it’s a great way to dip their toe in. Whether that’s cooking, painting, refinishing furniture, or anything in between, it can be found on YouTube. Have your teen get their partner involved and make a day of it. Prepare snacks, grab the supplies, and stream YouTube on your television; it’s the perfect stay-in date idea.

Backyard firepit date ideas

This is a great idea for your teen, their boyfriend or girlfriend, and their friend groups. If you have a backyard firepit all the better, or if you don’t, they’re relatively inexpensive to purchase. Grab hot dogs and S’more’s ingredients, put on some music, and invite everyone over for a fun, outdoorsy get-together.

Picnic in the park or beach

Whether it’s just grabbing some sandwiches from Publix and heading to the beach with a blanket and some music or preparing an elaborate DIY charcuterie board and going to a local park, you can’t lose with a picnic.

Strawberry picking

Strawberry, blueberry, or other types of fruit and vegetable picking dates are both inexpensive, fun to do, and offer a sense of accomplishment. Plus, once they’ve filled their buckets, they can come home and work together in the kitchen to prepare something delicious for the whole family. Everyone wins!

Daytime: Fun Date Ideas for Teens

Finding things to do together during the day can be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. Check out these daytime fun date ideas for teens.

Food truck festival daytime date

One thing about teens, they love to eat. So, attending a food truck festival is one of those fun date ideas for teens that serves two purposes. They’re out and about enjoying the day and one another’s company and eating some of their favorite foods.

Ice skating

Ice skating is great exercise and a fun daytime date idea for teens, especially if you live in warmer temperatures. It’s a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon, inside in a cool environment and it’s lots of fun! If your teens don’t know how to ice skate, don’t worry, there are “skating helper” bars that will keep them balanced until they get the hang of it!

Fishing or crabbing

Hand-line crabbing or fishing are inexpensive and fun date ideas for teens that again provide your kids with something additional to do once the date is over. Have them look up recipes online and cook up their catch together. This is also a great way for you as the parent to see how they interact and work together to complete a task or accomplish a goal!

Thrifting date idea

Some teens may not love this idea, so it’s going to depend on your kid and their interests and temperament, but with the trends toward minimalism and slow fashion, thrifting is quicking becoming a sought-after activity. Have your teens hit the thrift stores to see if they can find anything worthwhile. Another option is to make a fun game of it, and have them randomly (with eyes closed) choose an outfit that they have to wear out to dinner. There are plenty of hilarious TikTok videos highlighting this challenge.

This list of course barely scratches the surface of fun date ideas for teens, but it should be a great start to help the teen couple in your life figure out new and different things to do together. These ideas may even inspire them to come up with their own unique ideas! Good luck!
