I have been to therapy. For a long time, I couldn’t afford it and also I would say therapy won’t do anything for me than what a good friend can do. I was wrong. I went to a really good guy therapist but I stopped going because I think he helped me all that he could plus I’m stubborn and I didn’t want to do the work he told me to do. You see in order to heal you have to be willing to do the work and it’s uncomfortable and I was not willing to risk my comfort zone. So we parted ways but I still knew that I needed more. One night I was scrolling TikTok and came across Brittainy Noel and she stopped me in my tracks. I saw a few more videos and they just spoke to me so when I saw that she was coming to Atlanta with her tour Heart Talks I said I gotta get me some tickets.

Missed the first set of tickets because I procrastinated so I said it under her post…she actually responded (it was probably her team) and said to look out for an announcement she may be doing more tickets. Sure enough, she alerted me that there were more tickets and I jumped on them immediately before they were sold out.

I wanted to start my birthday year off right and this was the perfect self-care birthday present for me. Y’all know I got notes right? Here are a few…

  1. You gotta show up – no matter what show up even if it’s just a little. I need to show up and walk daily. I was trying to commit to 30 min a day but I can’t do it so I showed up and did 15..I showed up.
  2. What I want to do and capable of doing are two different things
  3. Everything adds up. You are being trained in all areas of your life and they add up to serve your purpose
  4. Situations can be a hurricane it doesn’t care who it picks up and destroys. Sometimes you have to be a hurricane and destroy things in your past to rebuild a better future.
  5. Don’t only grieve the present but grieve the future you thought you would have. That is a grief process also
  6. Stop moving through life like there is a fire when there is no fire. Perfect example she gave the smoke detector is going off we immediately think its a fire but it could be just your child burning something on the stove.
  7. When you feel fear ask what are you trying to control
  8. Check your reality and clean up your thought process
  9. Possibility responds to action
  10. Stop collecting evidence – this one got a few amens from the crowd. Keeping track of things or collecting things and putting in lists for whatever reason.

This was the perfect birthday present for me and I love that I get to start my new year off with some clarity.
