It’s Summer and while I would like to stay in bed all day and be lazy I can’t. (I am actually being way more lazy than I’m letting on. I am ripping and running from August to the first week of June with my kid’s activities. I also do way more photoshoots in the Fall so I don’t get much time to self-care. In the summer I’m much more free so I can focus on myself a little more because I don’t have to take anyone to school or dance so 2 huge things are cut from my schedule. (my kids school doesn’t have a bus I have to take them and pick them up daily which means I live in a car) So what do I do most summers besides being lazy? Create a summer self-care routine. Here are some tips…..
First I drink more water because I’m home and can use the bathroom so I’m upping my water intake.
Meet people in real life. My calendar is a bit more free during the summer so I don’t do a lot of phone calls or missed texts we are meeting for brunch or dinner or just a movie or we can fly in and out (if you have friends in other states) to see each other for the day. Also, stay off social as much if you can enjoy real life, not social media life.
Cook more. Also, all those cookbooks you have…yep you know the 6 or 7 collecting dust…cook a new meal weekly from them and discover a new dish. You might not like all of them but you will find one or two you love.
Make a summer playlist and play it while you cook or take a nice bath. Also, listen to your favorite podcasts this summer and catch up on some new ones.
The best tip I can give you all is to simply give yourself permission to do nothing. I know I am. I am also saying no just to laze around in my bed and others will be ok.
