It’s Friday and it’s a chill one for me. I’ve been working and doing Senior photoshoots. Now I gotta edit and get ready for Fall families and Christmas photos. If you didn’t know yes I’m a photographer you can email at kita@itsreallykita.com to book me and see my gallery on this page. I’m a low-key photographer meaning you won’t know I’m one unless I mention it. If you are in Atlanta holla at your girl though I’m reasonable and well I’ll let the gallery speak for itself. Moving on….welcome to our weekly series It’s Finally Friday and it’s October the year has moved a lot. If you missed last week please check it out here. This week we are talking college degrees.
I will admit I didn’t read this article. I just browsed but I do want to talk about college degrees and jobs. I won’t lie…I regret my college degree. I have a BA in business with a concentration in Marketing/Management. It was a waste for me and didn’t produce a top paying job coming from college like I thought it would. Now looking back I feel that I’ve learned more in these streets about Business than at college. I got into marketing because I loved commercials and how brands sold things. I was always fascinated with that and wanted to explore how I could be a part of that. I’m finally using my degree a little when it comes to social media, but I wish I had taken up something else in college and not wasted my time and money (heavy on the money)
I think jobs need to look at experience. I learn by doing. I didn’t know anything about accounting until I had to work in the backend of a company doing their books. By doing it I learned about accounting and had those skills to take to the next company. A degree is great but does it determine if a person can do a job or not? NO…I think the experience determines. There are a lot of people with degrees who still don’t know what they are doing. I mean get a degree if you have the money and you are guaranteed a job afterwards but please don’t let a degree make or break you. People without degrees can make millions just as much as people with them.
Top 3 of the week……
My favorite top 3 areas of study that I would do if I could go to college again
- I would definitely go into the medical field. Moreso Forensics science I am intrigued by how that makes or breaks a case
- Culinary Arts – I know I always say I hate cooking but I can cook and the fact that people gotta eat…there will always be a job for you in this unless robots start cooking and it’s a no for me
- Criminal Justice – I swear in my past life I was a detective. I can solve a case 90% of the time when I watch those crime shows. I just don’t wanna be a police officer first to get there.

If I could go back to college, for my Bachelor’s degree I would major in English with a concentration in creative writing.
Instead I majored in management and I fuckin hated it.
I did go to grad school for English, though, but it was very hard for me because I didn’t have my Bachelor’s in English. I had to work twice as hard as my classmates who had their Bachelor’s in English.

> JenniferEnglish should have been my choice also because I love to write and didn’t even think. I always felt that authors didn’t get paid a lot
