The Most Precious Mother’s Day Gift? You, In the Photo

Every mothers day since I started my photography journey, I have given a free mothers day shoot to my clients. It’s my way of saying thank you and it’s also my way of making sure mothers get into the photo. With mothers day around the corner I wanted to make sure I give you a reminder to get in the photo. The most precious mtohers day gift to yourself? You, in the photo with your babies or family.

I lost my mother due to cancer back in 2007. It has been difficult, but I also know that I wanted to create memories for others to have because the photos that stand still are all that I have of my mom. As the years go by, the pictures always remain the same, and so do the memories. I want that for others. Most of the time, mothers are the ones behind the camera. Capturing the moments as their kids grow up. Documenting the magic for everyone else, and sometimes we (myself included) aren’t in front of the camera.

Motherhood is important, and our kids want to see us in the photos with them, no matter how we look. I know that I’m a bigger girl, and my kids deserve to see me in the photo, no matter what size I am. I am still their mother, and they want to see that. They deserve to have me fully present. Me woven into their memories via a picture. The kids need proof that we were there, and I love that a camera can capture that.

The photos don’t have to be posed and perfect. They just need to be about your life and the people who matter the most. I do not want you to miss out. Please, this Mother’s Day get into the photo. Hire someone to take your photos, hand the camera over to someone else, set up the tripod, and document yourself this year.
