I’m rarely bored because there is always something to do. If there isn’t anything to do there is something to read or watch…or eat in my case. I always like to say I’m never bored because I don’t get to even finish the things I’m supposed to be doing in the first place. When I was little I used to say I’m bored a lot but these days kids have their tablets and phones and endless amounts of tv to watch so they should never be bored. Here are a few things to do if you are ever bored.
What to do if you are bored
Journal. Or you can dust off some old journals and go through them. See what you’ve learned and what you have left in the past. If you have a lot of journals you can even turn them into a book even if you don’t publish it for others you can publish it for your or your closest friends to read and learn something for themselves
Catch up with a friend or an associate. Look I don’t always have time to catch up with people in my day-to-day life but I do know that I love to catch up when I can. During down times I will call folks or text them to say hi. This also is a way to go through my phone and see who needs to erase no need for others to take up space like that.
Create something from Pinterest. Pinterest was my jam back in the day. When it first came out I would pick 2 things a week to do from there from an article. Sometimes it was cooking other times it was trying a new craft. I had fun doing that so randomly pick something from one of your boards over there and try something new.
Organize your photos. I have a Dropbox and things in there are a mess. This is a good time to organize your folders and erase some things if need be. On a bonus note, this could also be a time when you go through your phone photos and delete some things, and get some space. Get rid of all those screenshots, old texts, and useless pics, or put them in a folder and out of your phone.
Unsubscribe from newsletters and clean up that email inbox. I have tons and tons of emails in folders that need to be cleaned out. Taking the time to go through them and organizing them is a key way to keep the emails down and get rid of things that no longer serve you. I am always signing up for newsletters (and some I don’t) so going through and unsubscribing will help your inbox be used for things that are really important. Bonus tip…create an email just for newsletters that you love so you don’t miss anything and you can go through that all the time and see what serves you or no longer serves you anymore.
Meal prep. I tried this…I hated it but if I have some free time I will put on some music and get to cooking. I love that dinner is done for me by me and I am saving money and not eating out all the time. I love Chick Fil A and Zaxby but they are sick of me. If you have time maximize it because things always come up and you can be prepped with food at all times.
Clean out that junk drawer or closet. We all have one and it’s a mess. I avoid mine like the plague but if I have a free moment I like to go in there and at least make things neat or throw away stuff. I even find things I’ve been looking for lol. Take the time to make things nice and if you have kids who want to earn extra money have them clean it out and organize it for you. A great way for them to ask you questions about old pictures that you have tucked away
Need even more things to do if you are bored? Here are some other things you can do
- write a letter to yourself
- plan a vacation (bonus if you can plan a staycation for just yourself)
- Create an emergency kit. This is helpful to put in your car with all the essentials
- Clean out your purse. Chile if you could see the receipts I have up in there …do the car while you are at it
- Sell stuff that you don’t need and can make some money
- start a blog. I know it’s old school to some but having an online diary is a great tool to keep yourself on task with certain things. Especially things you love
- Start a new book or get back into magazines
