Welcome to Hello Kita! We are back, and this week let’s talk business. I see the Lip Bar all over these internet streets. I don’t know why the people are mad. Are they mad that she won’t pull out of Target? She does sell other places and Target is not the only place you can buy her things. From what I gathered, everyone is mad that she doesn’t just pull out of Target. It’s business, not personal. I will also say that I have been to Target since the boycott. You can cancel me but there were a few things I needed that I could not find on Amazon or in other stores, so I had to go in. I don’t dilly dally like I used to; I go in get what I need, and get out, but y’all, all these big stores do bullshat. I know, I know Target did it under the guise of being for us, but still they all support orange man in some form or fashion, and well, until we own some shat…I go where I can find what I need. Also, let me note that while folks talk about boycotting Target, pull up your receipts of how many black businesses you have supported in the last 3 months….I’ll wait, and we can compare. So, before you come for me, put your money where your mouth is. (Also, folks be lying about going into Target. I saw a creator who will check you on it via social, but her ass was up in there; she was at one that wasn’t in her area)
Moving on…..Owning a business isn’t for the weak. I see Mia (who owns Glamaholics) has to fight folks a lot about their products, inventory, etc. It’s so hard to watch because she is one of the black businesses that I support, and I have never ever had any issues with her. I like to call my business a lucrative hobby. I get some coins, but we’re not huge on the scale of some other businesses. I don’t even know if I want to be a big business because y’all complain about everything, and I am the type that will cuss you out so yeah, having a smaller scale business is best for me. I have two businesses: my photography one (which is really low-key; you have to know me to know I do photos; I don’t have ads and I barely show photography on my socials; it’s really just word of mouth), and I have my She Geechee, which is trademarked, btw, don’t play with me. I love both businesses but I do want to make She Geechee a bit bigger than what it is. We are working on it, but for now I love staying small. I prefer to get a steady paycheck because owning a business is work. It’s good that you can work for yourself and you are the boss but then you are the boss…see how that goes lol.
First thing you need to do when owning a business is to network. Social media is great, but don’t rely on just social media to sell your product or service. Get to the people and have good customer service. Do what you say you will do. I am thinking of starting a social club for business owner top of next year and will finalize that by the end of the year stay tuned for that, but for now do what you can when you can. Not everyone needs to be an entrepreneur; you can just do things for fun.

My daughter is playing with me about putting into these schools. Out of her group of friends (9), 7 have applied and got accepted to their schools and I’m like girl what is you doing? She claims she is waiting on the recommendation letters from her teachers and that is the holdup. I reached out to her counselor to find out does she need a letter from her actual teachers becuase I have teachers I know personally who know my daughter and can write one but she said it has to be a current teacher. We will be applying to the colleges that don’t need an essay or recommendation letters for now so that we can get the ball rolling.
DoorDash bought Instacart in another business deal. It’s business as always, and folks will want to do what’s best for their bottom line. I canceled Instacart once and got it back because sometimes I don’t feel like running to the store all the time. I buy my own meat and most of the time my own veggies and only use them for dry goods. I wish my kids were reliable to run to the store for me but these kids be doing their own thing so I am on my own.
My weight loss journey has hit a standstill. I haven’t walked in a minute cause it’s photography season for me, and I have been up till 3 am editing most nights (I don’t wake up till 8 am). I haven’t been walking as I should, but I have been hitting under 1600 calories per day 90% of the time, and I am proud. I do this by cutting my food down. If I order an All-Star from Waffle House, I only eat half the waffle. If I do a sub, I only eat half of the half of the sub. If I need something sweet, I modify how much I eat, and I have gotten rid of mostly everything with added sugar. Slow and steady wins the race.
They just opened a Sprouts in my area. I still like Whole Foods better.
New shirt alert on my website. I am working in collaboration with someone else. If you have an idea you want me to bring alive on my She Geechee, let me know and we can work out deets. Most of the time, if I collab, we split the profits, but we can always work out a deal.
The comments on social media are where it’s at. I get the most views and action when I comment on others. Take 5 minutes a day (you can use my method) and go to Instagram (your computer is better) go and comment on a few people there, then go to Threads and comment there. Come back after you’ve done it for a week and tell me what you think.
I bought from the Lip Bar for the first time. Can’t wait to try it out. I’m not a lipstick person like that I mostly do chapstick or vaseline but I may step it up a little.

Finally finished Parable of the Sower. Good book. I think it didn’t pick up until after she left from behind that wall. Next book we read will be Emma Grede let me see what she gotta say

Unlike most, I have only purchased The Lip Bar products online. People clearly don’t understand business, and it shows!! The All-Star specials really are too big for the average person. I wish there was an option to get half, at half the price 😫😫
